Youth Team Report | Fleetwood Town 0-3 Dale
The Youth Team were 3-0 winners over Fleetwood Town in the EFL North West Youth Alliance League on Saturday.
Goals from James Neild, Florian Yonsian and Fabio Tavares earned the three points for Dale, which were enough to secure a 2nd place finish.
Dale were almost behind inside a minute, but a superb goal line clearance from Luke Matheson prevented the hosts taking the lead, before James Neild nodded a corner narrowly wide at the other end.
However, Neild made the most of his next chance, nodding home a corner at the near post to break the deadlock shortly before the half hour mark.
A neat exchange of passes between Tavares and Lewis Bradley led to the former having a shot well saved at the near post, before Neild made a fantastic block to deny Fleetwood an equaliser shortly before the break.
After the break, Bradley and Tavares both saw efforts saved by the home stopper, before they struck the face of the crossbar with a free-kick from range.
Dale doubled their lead through Yonsian in the 73rd minute. He received a ball into feet from Toby Phillips, turned on the edge of the area and fired an effort in off the foot of the far post.
Phillips then fired over from six yards after a square ball from Tavares, before Morgan Piper made a strong save inside the final ten minutes.
Tavares then rounded off the scoring in added time, when Piper’s kick out bounced over the defence for him to run on to, and he lifted the ball over the goalkeeper for his 20th of the season.
