Youth Team Report | Dale 2-3 Salford City
A Youth Team made up of primarily Under-15 and Under-16 Academy players were narrowly beaten by Salford City on Tuesday.
Dale had found themselves 3-0 down heading into the half-time break, before fighting back to almost sneak a draw.
Clinical finishing from Salford proved to be the difference in the opening period, as two close-range goals sandwiched a powerful header from a corner kick.
After the interval, Dale rallied, with Under-16 player Peter Thomas pulling the first goal back after a fine through ball from substitute and fellow Under-16 player Ethan Brierley found him, and he slotted home coolly.
Another substitute, Under-16 player Jordan Scanlon, provided the assist for the second goal, playing another fine through ball for first-year scholar Adam Cullen to slot home.
Dale pushed for a late equaliser but couldn’t force one. Their next pre-season friendly is against Preston North End on Saturday.
Dale XI | Chalton, Caldwell, Trialist, Martin, Mialkowski, Nock, Trialist, Chorlton, Thomas, Cullen, Jesus.
Subs | Brierley, Al Akkad, Scanlon, Carne, Watts.
