Youth Team Report | Dale 4-1 Bury
The Youth Team secured a 4-1 victory over Bury in the EFL North West Youth Alliance League.
Two goals in either half, from Florian Yonsian and Fabio Tavares, secured the three points in Dale’s penultimate game of the season.
Neither side could create a clear opening during the early stages, but Dale soon began to take control of the game and broke the deadlock in the 19th minute.
Tavares picked up on a loose pass in the Bury half, drove forward and fed the ball through to Yonsian, who took a touch before finishing high up from just inside the area.
Seven minutes later, Tavares doubled the lead in fine fashion, when he latched on to Florent Hoti’s clipped ball, and with the goalkeeper off his lie, Tavares lifted the ball over him and into the net.
Dale stopper Morgan Piper made a one-on-one save with his legs and a fingertip save from a well-executed volley, either side of Hoti’s effort which was saved after he had put the ball through a defender’s legs.
After the break, Hoti fired a fizzing effort narrowly wide of the far post, before Dale added a third goal.
Louis White found Tavares inside the area, who took advantage of a fortunate ricochet of a defender to poke beyond the goalkeeper from close range.
The visitors created a few chances after the hour mark but were unable to convert, until Malakai McKenzie fired beyond Piper after initially being denied by the Dale stopper.
However, Dale took just four minutes to restore their three-goal lead, when Yonsian doubled his tally.
He controlled a loose ball, took the ball past a defender, and fired a low effort in at the far post from the left edge of the area.
Toby Phillips came close to rounding off a fine team move in added time, but saw a close-range effort saved, as Dale secured all three points in their final home game of the season.
They now travel to Wigan Athletic on Tuesday in their final match of the EFL North West Youth Alliance League season.
